Jesselton Collegeâ€™s Prom Night 2015 took place at Kimanis Ballroom, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. With an amazing and captivating Royal Ball theme, the night was indeed â€œA Masquerade to Rememberâ€. After months of preparation, the ball finally welcomed its guests donning cocktail attire and specially designed masquerade masks. This yearâ€™s prom is promised to be unique with the combined efforts of the Music and Dance (MAD) club and Student Council members in the planning of the programme and activities for the night.
Before long, the ball officially started with a welcoming speech by the Academic Director, Mdm. Vincci Chan whom thanked the guests for taking their time out from their busy schedules to attend the event, the generous sponsors as well as the committee members on their hard work preparing and transforming the night full of glitter and glee.
With the charismatic Ms. Olivia emceeing for the night, there were many favorable performances in stored for the guests. First off, the JC dance group, consisting of Ijan, Edda, Dhanee and Amos performed an energetic yet sexy dance routine. Then, faculty members Ms. Aishah, Ms. Stephy and the lovely Ms. Onie performed their rendition of â€˜All of Meâ€™.
In between the performances, lucky draw sessions were also held. Lucky guests walked away with prizes such as MaryKay gift vouchers, Hanakoya discount coupons and the main prize that consisted of a digital camera. The attractive prizes were given out by various representatives of Jesselton College.
While indulging in the irresistible food served, the guests were also entertained by the JC Band, featuring stunning vocal performances by Ms. Audrey and Ms. Olivia while accompanied by a mixture of modern and traditional musical instruments played by talented students of Jesselton College. Surrounded by great companions, the atmosphere was lively as the guests awaited for more highlights.
One of the main highlights for this yearâ€™s prom is the presentation of various student and staff awards. Awards were handed out to best students of their respective degree and diploma programmes as well as to staffs who excelled in their performances.
The night was full of surprises as the guests were wowed by the performance of a choir consisting of members of staff. Performing the song Seasons in the Sun by Westlife, the lead vocals showcased their singing talents with the support of backup singers.
Finally, the prom reached its climax with the highly anticipated event â€“ coronation of the Prom King and Prom Queen! Mr. Amos and Ms. Xandria were deservingly crowned as the King and Queen for the year 2015. On hand to present the crowns was Mdm. Vincci. Besides that, by winning a majority of the votes, Mr. Nelson Wong walked away with the â€œBest Dressed Staffâ€ award for the night.
In the end, the ball slowly drew to a close as guests were entertained by musical and dance performances.
