In the month of June 2015, Jesselton College paid an industrial visit to The Sabah Society at Damai, Kota Kinabalu.
In the month of June, Jesselton College paid an industrial visit to The Sabah Society at Damai, Kota Kinabalu. The Sabah Society is a non-government / non-profit organisation with a mission to stimulate a wider interest in, and knowledge of, the history, natural history and geography of Sabah and the cultures and customs of its people with activities such as talks, field trips, expeditions, journals and so on. Sabah Society provides a place for anyone who wishes to share or improve their knowledge of Sabah.
The visit by a group of 36 students was led by Ms. Vincci Chan, Head of Academic and accompanied by six faculty members of Business and Art School. The visitors were really fortunate to have three guest speakers, Datuk Chan Chew Lun, Ms. Maria Rowan and Dr. Elaine Kong from The Sabah Society to share their knowledge and insights. The visitors were given an introduction to The Sabah Society in order to understand its missions, roles and activities. After that, there was also a presentation related to the Sabahâ€™s history as well as its wildlife. As a bonus, Datuk Chan Chew Lun also shared his experience and knowledge in the field of publishing. That was not all as Datuk Chan also donated 30 valuable books to Jesselton College for the benefits of the students.
To end such a memorable visit, Ms. Vincci presented token of appreciations to the speakers for their valuable time spent on the evening. After that, Datuk Chan was also kind enough to spend time for a short Q&A session with the students before concluding the day.
