On the 18th of October, the student council organized a paintball war game at Likas Sports Complex. Themed “Are you the survivor?†the activity was participated by both Pineers and staff alike who were mostly first time players. Paintball is considered as an extreme sport and emphasis is given on safety measures. The marshals gave a briefing regarding the equipment, safety gears, rules and regulations as well as marshal commands.
Each participant was then given a paintball marker, protective gears such as mask and protectors as well as harnesses to carry extra pellets. Armed with coloured pellets, the first round started off with fierce exchange of fire between the two teams. The fight gradually died down as members from both teams were eliminated and the number of pellets dwindled rapidly.
With short breaks in between, the teams have a go at each other for three rounds with both teams feeling slightly exhausted in the final round. At this point, both teams slowed down the pace in order to conserve their limited pellets. Great teamwork can be seen as participants provide cover fire for one another while adjusting positions as well as the sharing of pellets while the game was ongoing. Marked with yellow paint and drenched with sweat, the game ended with good spirit between the teams. Overall, it was quite an enjoyable activity being the first time experience for most who participated.
