English Communication Programme

The English Communication Program at Jesselton University College is specifically designed to enhance practical communication skills in English. It spans two levels over a period of three months each and is available in both full-time and part-time formats. The program emphasizes real-world language use, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing, with a strong focus on conversational abilities and comprehension. LEVELS OVERVIEW

Level 1: Foundational Communication (3 Months)

Focus on building fundamental speaking and listening skills, engaging in daily dialogues, understanding common English phrases, and enhancing pronunciation and vocabulary for everyday interactions.

Level 2: Advanced Communication (3 Months)

Develop advanced conversational skills, improve clarity and fluency in speaking, understand and interpret nuanced language, and effectively participate in discussions, presentations, and negotiations.

 Core Learning Components:

– Practical Speaking and Conversation Skills

Emphasis on pronunciation, fluency, and the use of idiomatic language in various contexts, including social and professional settings.

– Listening and Comprehension

Techniques for active listening and strategies to improve comprehension of different accents, speech speeds, and informal language.

– Entry Level Selection:

A placement test is administered before admission to ascertain each learner’s current level of English and ensure they join the appropriate stage of the program, providing a targeted and effective learning path.
