The research programme leading up to the award of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management is designed for ambitious graduates wishing to do academic research in, or teach as, professors of management/business. Emphasizing mastery of the concepts and skills relevant to business and management, this doctoral programme will equip you with the relevant background theory and technical knowledge for field research into business management.
Applicants for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Management programme are required to submit a comprehensive statement of the research which they propose to carry out. The proposal should comprise the following elements: .
Background or a brief literature review on the research topic
Phase 1
Research Methodology workshop
Colloquium
The Colloquium allows students to gain public speaking experience, learn about student research from fields within and outside their academic discipline, and experience judging methods used by professional panels for national and international meetings.
Phase 2
Proposal Defence
Each student must submit the first three chapters of his or her thesis for internal assessment. They must then present and defend their PhD research proposal. The student is only allowed to continue with the research to Phase 3 on the passing of the defence of their proposal.
Phase 3
Data Collection and Thesis Preparation
The student proceeds to his/her data collection, data analysis and thesis writing
International Conference and Journal publication
Students are encouraged to both present their papers at international conferences and publish their research findings in Scopus-indexed journals.
Phase 4
After submitting the thesis, the student is required to attend a Viva Voce to defend his/her thesis
