Jesselton University College is a leading private higher education institution in Sabah. Established in 1988 under Sabah’s Education Ordinance, 1961 (Ordinance No. 9 of 1961), and re-registered as Institut Prima Bestari when the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996 was enacted. The institution has demonstrated an outstanding and proven track record, including achieving a 5-star rating from the Ministry of Higher Education for consecutive years. In recognition of its commitment and quality in higher education, the Ministry of Higher Education granted University College status to the institution in 2021.
Being one of the leading private education institution, Jesselton University College has a long standing recognition from the local authorities. Programmes of Jesselton University College are recognised and accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and Ministry of Human Resource. Jesselton University College is a licensed training provider panel for the Human Resources Development Corporation (HRDCorp), The Social Security Organisation (SOCSO), Ministry of Tourism Management (MOTAC), and Department of Skills Development (JPK).
With its roots deeply planted in the land of Sabah, Jesselton University College is extending its reach further onto the global horizon, seeking recognition and accreditations on a global scale. JUC is also an appointed learning and assessment centre for OTHM Qualification UK and Qualifi UK (both Ofqual regulated certification bodies). Throughout its years of global expansion, Jesselton University College has achieved the status of an institutional member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), American Higher Education Alliance (AHEA), and Chartered Association of Continuing Education (CACE).
