The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education with Special Education (Honours) program equips educators with the specialized knowledge and pedagogical competencies required to support diverse learners during their foundational years. The curriculum blends early childhood developmental theory with targeted interventions for neurodivergent children and individuals with disabilities. Through structured lectures, inclusive classroom simulations, developmental screening workshops, and practicum placements in both inclusive preschools and specialized learning centers, students gain expertise in differentiated instruction, individualized education planning, behavioral support, and collaborative family partnerships.
Graduates of the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education with Special Education (Honours) program are well positioned to pursue advanced academic pathways. The solid grounding in child development, early intervention, and inclusive pedagogy allows holders of this qualification to progress directly into postgraduate study (Level 7, MQF), including:
Following the completion of a relevant Master’s degree by coursework, mixed mode, or research, graduates can further advance their research and academic credentials by pursuing a Doctoral degree (Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Education) in specialized areas of early years and special needs education.
In the final year, students will complete a Undergraduate Research project under the supervision of a faculty member. This project allows students to integrate their knowledge and skills acquired throughout the program and conduct original research in an area of interest within early childhood education.
