Jesselton University College (JUC) continues to make strides in supporting students from low-income families through a robust support system that has been in place since 2021. This initiative is a testament to JUC’s unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive academic environment where every student has the resources they need to succeed.
JUC provided support services such as free transportation, hostel, scholarship, mentoring and part-time opportunity. Since its inception, more than 700 students have benefited from these comprehensive support services, which are specifically designed to alleviate the financial burdens that can often hinder academic success.
Understanding the unique challenges faced by students from low-income backgrounds, JUC has developed a range of support services to address their specific needs. Key components of this support system include 6 months of transportation allowance, 24 months of hostel accommodation, food vouchers, and financial aids support.
JUC understands that each student’s situation is unique, and is committed to offering tailored support to meet individual needs. The Student Affairs Department is readily available to discuss any additional requirements or specific challenges faced by low-income students, ensuring a personalized approach to support.
“Since 2021, we have been dedicated to removing financial barriers that might prevent our students from succeeding,” said Dr Louis. “Our comprehensive support services are designed to help students not only complete their education but to excel in their academic pursuits.”
JUC’s dedication to supporting students from low-income families is central to its mission of making higher education accessible and achievable for all. By providing these essential services, JUC empowers students to overcome obstacles, focus on their education, and achieve their academic and personal goals.
