Jesselton University College Empowers 800 Participants with Free Skill Development Courses During National Training Week

In support of the National Training Week, Jesselton University College (JUC) organized a series of free technical courses from 26 to 28 June 2024, aimed at equipping participants with cutting-edge skills and knowledge. This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Human Resources and HRD Corp, underscores JUC’s commitment to enhancing the community’s access to valuable educational opportunities.

JUC offered 5 diverse short courses during this period, all free of charge, catering to various interests and professional needs. The courses included “Foundation in Artificial Intelligence,” “Creative Floristry,” “Cybersecurity,” “E-sport,” and “Graphic Design.” Each course was designed to provide participants with practical, up-to-date skills that are highly relevant in today’s rapidly evolving job market.

The response to these courses was overwhelmingly positive, with a total of 800 participants enrolling across the five programs. This turnout reflects a strong demand for continued education and upskilling opportunities within the community. Participants were able to engage with expert instructors, gain hands-on experience, and develop new competencies that can be applied directly to their current or future careers.

Dr. Louis, President of JUC, expressed her satisfaction with the success of the event: “We are thrilled to see such a high level of engagement from the community. These courses are part of our broader mission to provide accessible education and to empower individuals with the skills they need to succeed in today’s dynamic environment. By offering these programs at no cost, we are helping to remove barriers to education and ensuring that more people can benefit from the opportunities that JUC has to offer.”

The free technical courses hosted by JUC during National Training Week are a testament to the university’s dedication to fostering continuous learning and professional development. As JUC continues to offer such programs, it remains committed to contributing to the development of a skilled, knowledgeable, and competitive workforce in Sabah and beyond.
