Jesselton University College (JUC) Empowers Communities with High Impact Outreach Initiatives

Kota Kinabalu, December 9, 2022, Jesselton University College (JUC) proudly concludes its 3-day high impact community outreaches in Kg Mangin, Kota Marudu, and three villages in Daerah Tuaran – Kg Tomboilik, Kg Monggis, and Kg Koburan. The Program Menggilap Permata PPD Pitas was also successfully completed, leaving a positive impact on the communities involved.

During these outreach activities, JUC contributed significantly to the well-being of the communities. Working in collaboration with the Sabah State Welfare Department and Tamparuli District, JUC donated 30 food baskets and 2 wheelchairs to those in need. Additionally, the initiative provided 228 consultations, including personality assessments, career guidance, trauma counseling, and educational support. Furthermore, 50 B40 families were awarded educational scholarships sponsored by JUC, offering them an opportunity for better education and brighter futures.

“We are thrilled to have made a difference in the lives of these communities through our outreach efforts,” said CR Stanley, the brand ambassador of JUC. “At JUC, we believe in the power of education and community empowerment. Through these initiatives, we hope to inspire positive change and create a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.”

The outreach efforts were not limited to community support alone. In a show of support for local businesses, JUC’s brand ambassador made a special appearance at King Curry Borneo Tamparuli. During the event, 12 lucky winners were selected for various prizes, including the grand prize of a motorcycle. This gesture of support highlights JUC’s commitment to promoting local businesses and contributing to the growth of the local economy.

“Our approach is all about multitasking and making a difference on multiple fronts,” CR Stanley expressed. “We are proud to combine community outreach with backing local businesses, as we believe that a holistic approach can lead to sustainable development in Sabah.”

JUC’s dedication to community development and social responsibility is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 1: No Poverty, Goal 4: Quality Education, and Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.

As the outreach initiatives come to a close, JUC remains committed to continuing its impactful programs in support of the community and local businesses. The university aims to foster positive change, empower individuals, and contribute to a thriving and inclusive society.
