Last week witnessed a remarkable transformation in Kudat as Jesselton University College (JUC) orchestrated the P.E.R.M.A.T.A initiative, an educational endeavor aimed at empowering the youth and driving sustainable development.
From November 27th to December 3rd, JUC’s impactful outreach spanned across 13 high schools in Kudat, aligning with SDG 1, SDG 3, SDG 4, and SDG 5, focusing on poverty eradication, health and well-being, quality education, and gender equality.
At the core of P.E.R.M.A.T.A were the motivational talks by CR Stanley, Jesselton University College’s esteemed brand ambassador, which inspired SPM students and stirred a sense of purpose within the young minds of Kudat.
Alongside these talks, the program also provided essential education on nutrition and mental health, recognizing the importance of holistic development. By equipping students with knowledge on maintaining a balanced diet and mental well-being, the program contributed to public development, ensuring that young people are prepared for both academic and personal success.
However, P.E.R.M.A.T.A wasn’t just about words; it was about tangible opportunities. JUC pledged three full scholarships and two partial scholarships, totaling RM185,000, ensuring that financial barriers wouldn’t impede deserving students from pursuing their academic dreams.
The commitment of JUC extended beyond students to educators. Dr. Yong and Ms. June, distinguished JUC lecturers, led intensive English language activities, aimed not only at students but also at elevating the English proficiency of Kudat’s high school teachers, creating a ripple effect in the educational ecosystem.
Amidst the success of P.E.R.M.A.T.A, JUC expresses profound gratitude to its invaluable sponsors whose support played a pivotal role in realizing this vision. Special thanks to BMW Regas Premium, Kudat Gold & Marina Resort, and Tong Hing Supermarket for their unwavering commitment to empowering the Kudat community through education.
The impact of P.E.R.M.A.T.A extends far beyond a week-long event. It signifies a monumental step towards bridging educational disparities and fostering a brighter, more sustainable future for Kudat’s youth.
